Hospice Counselor Liu Mingxiong: Some Reflections on the Winter Mindfulness Workshop
Per the invitation of Prof. Huang Yulian of the FGU Dept. of Psychology, I presented a talk "The Evolution and Practice of Mindfulness-based Psychotherapy" based on my personal experiences as a caregiver.
[In recent years, clinical psychiatry has begun to include mindfulness alongside medication within clinical treatment programs for patients. Furthermore, psychotherapists practicing mindfulness can improve their own stress tolerance and emotional stability. With this stronger psychological basis, therapists can develop deeper empathy for their patients and more effectively provide care. Treatment efficacy always vary with the exact nature and severity of illness, and the response of the individual patient is typically dependent on his (socio-religious) background and affective/cognitive capacity. For example, patients who respond well to cognitive therapy may also be suited to mindfulness therapy. To achieve optimal efficacy, a therapist must understand deeply understand the client as well as the disease.] (Talk abstract summarized by the English reporter)
