【Seminar Series】The Theory and Practice of Oral History with Respect to Contemporary Buddhist Figures
Date: March 24, 2022
Time: 13:30-15:30
Location: Yunshui Hall N117

The third speaker for this semester's Buddhist Studies Seminars is Prof. HOU Kunhong (Department of Religion and Culture, Xuanzang University).

For a historiographer, oral histories are valuable modern, first-person accounts to acquire and compile; they are effectively history in the present continuous sense: contemporary history in the making, contemporary history being told and written.  Prof. Hou will share his experiences from the past two decades of fieldwork, beginning from his earlier tenure at the National History Museum.

This activity is open to all interested students and faculty.  Guests from the general public are requested to register here, at least four days before the event.  In case of any other questions, please contact us!
