The Center for Buddhist Studies at Fo Guang University is pleased to announce the publication of the latest issue of the Fo Guang Journal of Buddhist Studies (New Series, Vol. 7, No. 2). This issue features five research papers:

Prof. Huang Yi-Hsun explores the Buddhist thought of Chan Master Hanyue Fazang through the Sanfeng Heshang Xinchan (The Heart Repentance of Monk Sanfeng), a unique Ming dynasty text preserved at Xiyuan Temple in Suzhou.

Prof. Chen Shuai analyzes the author's biography and textual content of the Yinming ruzheng lilun jijie (Collected Commentaries on the Nyāyapraveśa) to explore aspects of Ming and Qing dynasty Hetuvidyā (Buddhist logic) scholarship that have been overlooked by modern academia.

Research Fellow Ven. Fa Chuang analyzes the characteristics and historical value of Ming and Qing Buddhist texts contained within the Jingshan Canon from the perspective of bibliographical features and editions.

Prof. Lin Hsin-Yi compares several Buddhist texts related to pregnancy and child-rearing, including the Foshuo changshou miezui huzhu tongzi tuoluoni jing (Sutra on the Longevity, Extinction of Offenses, and Protection of Young Children). The paper discusses the content, thought, and dates of formation and circulation of these texts.

Research Fellow Chiu I-Hsuan examines the printed and manuscript works of Nanpo Bunshi (1555–1620), a figure who was both a Chan monk and a scholar-monk. By analyzing the differences between versions, the paper explores his life amidst worldly affairs and practice, specifically his monastic life and yearning for reclusion in the mountains.
