Call for Papers: The 3rd Conference for Young Buddhist Scholars

The Third Young Buddhist Scholars Conference
Conference Dates: October 29–30, 2026 (Thursday–Friday)
Venue: National Taiwan University, Taiwan
 
Purpose
The Center for Buddhist Studies at National Taiwan University, the Chung-Hwa Institute of Buddhist Studies, the Buddhist Research Center at Fo Guang University, and Dharma Drum Institute of Liberal Arts jointly organize the Third Young Buddhist Scholars Conference to encourage emerging scholars in Buddhist Studies and support the development of high-quality academic research.
 
Outstanding papers will be selected for presentation at the conference. After the conference, the four organizing institutions will assist in matching presenters with senior scholars in Taiwan and abroad, who will provide guidance for revising the papers. Completed papers may subsequently be recommended for submission to leading Buddhist Studies journals in Taiwan, including NTU Buddhist Studies, Chung-Hwa Buddhist Studies, Dharma Drum Journal of Buddhist Studies, and Foguang Journal of Buddhist Studies.
 
Conference Theme
Papers on any topic related to Buddhism are welcome.
 
Eligibility
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria:
  1. Doctoral candidates;
  2. Early-career scholars who obtained their doctoral degree within the past five years; or
  3. Assistant professors, or scholars holding an equivalent position.

Review Committee
The review committee will consist of faculty members and scholars from the Center for Buddhist Studies at National Taiwan University, the Chung-Hwa Institute of Buddhist Studies, Fo Guang University, and Dharma Drum Institute of Liberal Arts.
 
Financial Support
A fixed subsidy for accommodation expenses may be available to overseas and non-local participants, subject to individual circumstances.
 
Submission Guidelines
The submission period is open from now until August 15, 2026.
 
Applicants should submit the following materials:
.A paper outline of no more than 1,000 Chinese characters; and
.An abstract of no more than 150 Chinese characters.
 
The selection results will be announced by the end of August 2026.
