Professor Huaiyu Chen from Arizona State University Visits the Center for Buddhist Studies and the Department of Buddhist Studies

On June 13, Professor Huaiyu Chen from the Department of Religious Studies at Arizona State University (USA) visited the College of Buddhist Studies and the Center for Buddhist Studies at Fo Guang University. He also participated in a roundtable discussion with faculty members and students from the Department of Buddhist Studies.

Professor Chen’s past research topics include Daoxuan and the revitalization of the Vinaya in medieval monasticism (author of The Revival of Buddhist Monasticism in Medieval China) and the relationship between Buddhism and animals (author of Animals and the Political and Religious Order in Medieval China). In recent years, he has also produced works exploring the development of Chinese and Western historiography.

During the exchange, students enthusiastically raised various questions regarding academic research perspectives. Professor Chen answered each inquiry and shared valuable insights drawn from his own research experience.
