Abstract: Imagination is never absent from daily life, yet it is inherently ambiguous. Sometimes imagination merely deviates from reality; at other times, it can shift perspectives, expand reality, or even approach ultimate reality. This ambiguity places imagination somewhere between prapañca (conceptual proliferation/idle discourse) and lalitavyūha (playful samadhi).

Metaphor in linguistic experience acts much like a lever; it enables profound truths to be illuminated through light analogies, semantically connecting many different domains. The ability to skillfully draw analogies is a fundamental requirement of rhetorical competence. Metaphors in language and imagination as a mental faculty possess the regenerative function of guiding interpretation, understanding, and creativity. They are indispensable in philosophy, religion, and art.
